| Pretty, but also poisonous Thu, 29 May 2008 01:37:00 PST In 2006, 64,236 human exposures to plant poisons were reported to Poison Control Centers in the United States. It's not surprising that plant toxicity is a problem, as there's no easy way to look at a plant and judge whether it may be poisonous. Some of our most lovely plants, including lilies, bird-of-paradise, and bleeding heart, all contain toxins that may affect humans or animals. Some plants simply may cause skin rashes, while others may result in serious illness or death. |
